Free activities to enjoy in Hervey Bay


Like any other destination, there are some fun things to do at Hervey Bay without having to pay for it. Usually holiday destinations price everything so that guestsand visitors have to pay a fee to enjoy some of the attractions. Here is a look at some of the activities that one can enjoy.

The parks and the beaches

There are some amazing parks and beaches that one can enjoy here. The parks are developed well so that the community and its visitors can enjoy a picnic or admire the fauna and foliage. Most parks are accessible by visitors easily. There are some 800 parks here with recreational facilities for all. Some of the most popular parks in this are apex park, daymanpark, esapark and turtle rookery, ernieorgantrain park, pier park, pines park and quota park are just to name a few. Almost every park is located close to the beach so there is easy access from the park to the beach and visitors can enjoy facilities such as the shower, BBQ pits and tables and chairs. Also if you are here with kids, family or a group of people you can stay at one of the resorts in hervey bay, which is located close to all facilities.
Main Street and the Esplanade

Wetside is a free educational water park that is free to visitors of all ages. There are interactive slides and water related activities for everyone. There is a nice cozycoffee shop for those who would like to sit and relax and enjoy the light show which is held every weekend after sunset.

Botanical gardens

The botanical gardens located on Elizabth Street Urangan  is a great place to read a book, relax , watch the birds or have a picnic with the family or your loved ones. The gardens are home to 20,000 varieties of Orchids set amidst walkways and ponds.

Weekend markets

The locals feature their fresh produce, arts, home ware, clothes, crafts etc. every weekend.  The market extends from Burrum Heads to River Heads and you are sure to find some unique trinket to take home.

The Marina

Located at Boat Harbour Drive in Urangan, this is a place for visitors to spend many hours checking out the shops and the vessels that arrive and depart on various tours. There are various stalls and music that are set up between 4pn – 8pm on Fridays.

The Library

The Library at Old Maryborough road, Pialba is a great place to catch up on the history in Hervey Bay. Don’t miss the art, photography and sculpture displays at the library which is free of charge.
