This picturesque
town was originally founded by Captain James Cook in 1770 and is named after
Cook’s boss, Lord Augustus Hervey, who was an admiral of The Blue. At the time
they did not know that Fraser Island was a separate land.
In the 1980s, Hervey
bay was a major transportation point for the Port of of Maryborough which
boosted the transportation of sugar cane in the region. The rail line
ran from Aldershot to Takura, from Nikenbah to Pialba and Urangan.
The neighboring towns in the area include Maryborough,
Bundaberg, Woodgate and Childrers which is a one-hour’s drive from Hervey bay.
The Fraser coast
region is not only popular as a beach
destination but is also home to a healthy growth of sugar cane. Each year, Hervey
Bay, Maryborough and Bundaberg have a plentiful harvest of sugar cane giving
the economy and job industry in Fraser Coast a tremendous boost.
All this history makes hervey bay a great place for an
education holiday as well. Families are seen all year around staying at some of
the best resort hervey bay,
so that they can learn a little more about what hervey bay has to offer and its
history than laze around on the beach.
Once a fishing
village, in 1984, Hervey bay earned the status of being called a city due to
its growth continuously in business, tourism and the economy. Once called a
seaside village is now called a city. Due to the popularity of the city several
business entities and franchise started setting up their shops and business here
with plenty of shopping centers and attractions, around to make it a
fully-fledged tourist destination.
Apart from tourist
visiting this area, many residents too have relocated their homes and business
to this wonderful city. Apart from being a good tourist destination hervey bay
was also voted as a good city to move to by families as the people relocating to this place was alarmingly high.
Fraser Island and
Hervey bay is known as the whale capital in Australia. Therefore it is not
surprising as to why so many tourist flock here and so many want to relocate
and build a new life and a future for themselves in this places due to its
pleasant lifestyle and unspoilt beaches and wonderful sites. I don’t think Captain Cook ever realized that
his discovery will be a ‘gold-mine’ in the future.
