Fishing
Fishing is a very
popular activity with both the young and old. Anglers from all over Australia
can be seen here on weekend trips or spending their summer holidays here. Fishing
can be done on the Urangan Pier which extends about 720m to the bay area and
there is room for everyone here a well. If you prefer to fish from a boat or
move on to deep sea fishing then there are charters available to take you game

The Esplanade
This is where all
the action happens. You can rollerblade, bike or take a nice walk in the
evenings along the Hervey bay esplanade which is very active by day and
promises a beautiful view at sunset. The path stretches from Urangan Harbour to
the western side of the city to Gatakers Bay.

The local markets
There are community
markets that see some great stuff from fresh produce, arts and crafts to little
trinkets to take back home. These markets are usually held over the weekend and
can last until Sunday evening. The local community market is a great place for
the whole family to meet the locals and socialize, creating life-long
relationships.
Whale watching tours
This is the main
attraction in hervey bay. It is known as the whale watching capital in
Australia. Tourist and locals can choose from a variety of tours ranging from
day tours to half day tours. These whale watching trips promises guest an up
close and personal experience with the whales, an experience they would never
have dreamed of.
Indigenous tours
There are some very
unusual tours to the Scrub Hill community farm, where guest can learn about
Australian’s aborigines’ and their culture.
Herb farm and
cottage crafts

opportunity to see some of the locally produced arts and crafts such as
pottery, wooden toys, spinning, weaving, patchwork, aboriginal art, jewellery,
paining and many more, There is a variety of potted herb plants that are sold
at the cottage herb nursery as well.
