Like any other New South Wales city or town, Ballina has its fair share of events that take place regularly and that provide fodder for tourists and locals as well. Most of these events bring together thousands of participants who are only too willing to express themselves the best way they know how.
As one of the top holiday destinations in the North Coast region of Australia, you are likely to find yourself bumping into these activities while holidaying in the area. One of them is the GEMFEST event which is an open forum for buyers and sellers of hand-crafted items such as jewellery and other artifacts. Because of the large numbers of attendees, organisers pick expansive grounds to hold it in.
Charity walks are the other events you would likely find taking place in this North Coast city. Some of the walks, like the Ballina to Byron Bay Charity Walk, attract multitudes which include tourists. Most of these are used to raise funds for some worthy causes.
The Casino Beef Week is also another event that brings together tens of thousands of Ballina residents and tourists. This is an annual festival that was started in 1982 and whose aim is to promote the Casino area. It incorporates lots of food, sporting activities and music.
Most of these activities and events are tourist-friendly and it would add to the excitement of the holiday if one joined in. There are great Ballina accommodation facilities that are available, many of which are located close to where the action is.
